College Admission Confidential

ELSA CLARK

Elsa Clark

Elsa Clark is a native not only of California, but of Los Angeles. Although she has lived in the area her whole life, she has traveled extensively throughout the United States visiting colleges and universities both on and off the beaten path. Currently the Director of College Counseling at Immaculate Heart High School, Elsa is past president of the Western Association for College Admission Counseling (WACAC); past chair of the NACAC sponsored Greater Los Angeles National College Fair; past board member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC); and past College Scholarship Service national committee member for the College Board.

Elsa is also a contributing author to NACAC’s Fundamentals of College Admission Counseling. Her chapter focuses on working with diverse student populations in particular. She has been active within the college counseling profession for over twenty years.

Elsa truly enjoys both the students she works with as well as the colleagues with whom she shares the same work – on both sides of the desk – in secondary schools and colleges and universities.

"I love what I do. Although frustrating at times, working the school to college admission process is above all rewarding. I love it when a student and college are a 'perfect match'. I love it when students discover their own passions through the work of searching out and applying to college. And I love working with my peers and colleagues - they are a caring and very professional bunch. Mother of three, I've experienced the process first hand in three very different iterations - all successfully accomplished. I'm particularly excited about "College Admission Confidential". It provides a great opportunity to explore in depth the issues and concerns related to this intriguing process. It will well serve students, parents and professionals alike. Tune in!"

  CHRIS KRZAK
Chris Krzak

Transplanted to Los Angeles from New Jersey, Chris Krzak has also lived in Northern California, but prefers the warmer weather of the south.  A world traveler, 38 countries and 40 states, he is a man of the world.

Currently the Dean of Admissions at the University of La Verne in the Los Angeles area, Chris has worked in college admission since he was a freshman student worker at the University of San Francisco, where he ended up working eighteen years. Chris then moved onto the California State University system, the largest 4 year higher education organization in the world, where he served as Director of Enrollment Management at the California Maritime Academy campus for seven years.

Chris likes to comment that he has worked in college admission through 4 Presidents – three wars – and the turning of the millennium.  Chris has been active in the Western Association for College Admission Counseling
(WACAC) holding the honor of being their first college fair registrar.

He also was Chair of Western’s National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and WACAC’s College Fairs Committees as well as an elected Assembly Delegate to NACAC. He has participated in countless workshops dealing with college admission and is a highly sought after speaker on many college related issues.  “I believe it is the job of college and admission counselors to help students find the right college.  A college education is often the first major financial decision a teenager will make and I want to ensure they know all the possibilities so that they can start their adult life with success.”
