Darryl Phinnessee is a globally recognized Grammy Award-
winning singer, songwriter, performer, composer, vocal
arranger, and producer based in Los Angeles, CA.
A native of East St. Louis, IL, Darryl fronted various local R
& B bands, sang Gregorian Chant as a choirboy at St.
Joseph’s church, gospel at his grandfather’s baptist
church, and earned a Bachelor of Music degree in classical
voice from Southern Illinois University.
His unique voice and eclectic talents led him to work with
Michael Jackson as both touring vocal director and
featured vocalist. He has also recorded and toured with
Rod Stewart, Lionel Richie, Don Henley, and Clare Fischer.
Being in much demand in L.A.’s recording studios, Darryl
has sung with Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, Ringo
Star, Luther Vandross, Anita Baker, The Black Crowes,
Mariah Carey, James Brown, and Quincy Jones, to name
only a few.
Phinnessee co-wrote the Emmy-nominated theme song
“Tossed Salads And Scrambled Eggs” for Frasier, the
critically acclaimed American television series, and sang on
Dancing With The Stars for seven years. Darryl recently
returned from Halden, Norway, performing all Stevie
Wonder compositions, as featured vocalist in concert with
the Norwegian Wind Ensemble and is currently recording
his solo record with the working title, Rare.
